OVERVIEW

The One-Year Master of Education Management (M.Ed Management) is a specialised postgraduate programme designed to address a critical need within the Sri Lankan education sector, the growing demand for professionally qualified educational leaders with formal expertise in education management.

Many education professionals currently serve in leadership roles such as Principals, Vice Principals, Sectional Heads, and Academic Coordinators, often supported by experience or general postgraduate qualifications. However, there remains a clear gap in discipline-specific, management-focused academic training in education.

This programme is designed to bridge that gap.

Aligned with SLQF Level 9, the programme develops advanced competencies in educational leadership, strategic management, policy implementation, institutional governance, and quality assurance. Entry Requirements

Academic and Professional Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate Qualification A recognised Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an approved institution.
  • Professional Background (Preferred) This programme is ideally suited for individuals currently engaged in education management and leadership roles, including Principals, Vice Principals, Sectional Heads, Academic Coordinators, and other education professionals seeking formal academic recognition and advancement in educational leadership and administration.

Eligibility and Approval

As this is a Master of Education Management programme at postgraduate level, all applications are subject to a rigorous academic review process. Final eligibility will be determined by the Senate (or its authorised academic committee) on a case-by-case basis, ensuring that candidates meet the required academic standards and are appropriately prepared for advanced study in the field of education.

Admission and Selection Process

  • All applicants will be required to attend a formal online interview conducted by the Academic Panel.
  • This process is designed to assess the applicant’s motivation, professional experience, and readiness to successfully undertake the programme.

Programme Fee Structure

  • Total Investment: LKR 280,000

    • Registration Fee: LKR 5,000
    • First Instalment: LKR 25,000
      (Payable within three (03) weeks from the commencement of the programme)
    • Monthly Instalments: LKR 25,000 × 10

Note

All registered students will receive International Student Registration, including an official Student ID Card and Student Registration Letter, issued through Nile University of Science and Technology, which is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). These documents will be issued within one month of successful registration.

Students may initially register for the programme by paying Rs. 5,000 and attend lectures for one month to assess the quality of the course. During this period, the Nile University registration fee of Rs. 25,000 must be paid. Upon completion of payment, international student registration will be issued within one month.

Fees once paid are non-refundable and non-transferable, in accordance with institutional financial policies and regulations.
